MIKE PANCO

Guitar, Vocals

Mike Panco developed a lifelong love of the guitar as a child. When he finally got his hands on an acoustic guitar at age 14, an electric model soon followed, and within six months Mike was part of a blues band playing gigs around town. In the decades since, he has continuously played, performed, and honed his craft both as a solo artist and a member of various rock, blues, folk, and fusion acts.

In the early 1990s, Mike went through a dark period as close friends and family members battled addiction, mental health crises, and other profound struggles. He emerged from these challenges moved to explore songwriting as a way to help make sense of everything he'd experienced and find—and share—the light enduring in that darkness. Seldom recording or performing these original compositions, Mike continued to write and refine for years, contributing his time and talent to other bands, but always looking for the ideal partner and opportunity to bring his own creative vision to life.

JACQUELINE BLACK

Cello, Keyboards

Jacqueline Black began her love affair with the cello at age four, launching a lifelong musical journey that led her to earn degrees in music from the University of Illinois, University of Notre Dame, and Northwestern University. For much of her career, Jacqueline served as a featured soloist and member holding chairs in various symphonies and orchestras. She was a founding member of a piano trio that toured Europe, Asia, and North America and received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Jacqueline chafed at the boundaries imposed by the classical world and began exploring jazz, blues, and other improvisational styles, pushing herself in new creative directions. Memorably, this period of growth and exploration included a stint busking on Mallory Square in Key West, sitting in with blues icon Bill Blue, and collaborating extensviely with master guitarist Larry Baeder.

PANCO BLACK ROOT

A chance encounter in 2022 led Jacqueline and Mike to start collaborating. The duo's potential was clear from the first notes, captivating the audience with their onstage chemistry and exceptional combined artistry. They decided to keep performing together as Panco Black Root, and they have been active in the studio recording original songs ahead of a planned album release. Panco Black Root has also been touring to bring their high-energy live performances to venues across the country, performing both as a duo and supported by a full backing band.
